Le Mont Saint Michel :
L'histoire du mont St Michel aurait commencée en 708 lorsque
Aubert, évèque d'Avranches, fit élever un
sanctuaire en l'honneur de l'Archange. The
history of Mont Saint Michel is thought to date back 708, when Aubert
Bichop of Avrranches, had a sancturay built in honour of the archangel.
Le mont devint rapidement un lieu de pelrinage. Au Xème
siècle, les bénédictins (que l'on retrouve
à Fécamp pour la bénédictine) virent
s'intaller à l'abbaye, tandis qu'un village se
développait en -contre-bas. The
mount soon became a focus of pilgerimage. in the 10th century, the
Benedicts (that you also can find in Fécamp for the
Bénédictine) setteled in the abbey, while a village grew
up below its walls.
